I’d like to tell you about some exciting new services at Still Mountain.
With the increased media visibility of celebrities undergoing cosmetic acupuncture, a number of people have asked me if this is something we could do here. I am happy to announce that I have successfully completed an intensive training in cosmetic acupuncture and am now offering this service at Still Mountain. But before telling you how acupuncture can help you look and feel better, I want to tell you about this year's Spring Cleanse Program.
The Spring Cleanse is a ten-day, high-tech liver detoxification program that includes an elimination diet and culminates in a three-day, nutritionally supported fast. It is a wonderful opportunity to recalibrate your relationship to food, drop a few pounds and get ready for a great summer, while enjoying the camaraderie of an interesting group of like-minded people. Given the increasingly polluted environment we live in, I recommend that people do this once or twice a year as a matter of regular health maintenance. This year’s Spring Cleanse is scheduled for the evenings of April 18 and 26 from 7 – 8:30 pm. and Sunday on April 29, 5:30 – 7:00 pm. If these times do not work for you, you may schedule an appointment in my office on a private basis. Please see below for specific details.
As the first wave of Baby Boomers pass the 60 year mark, there has been a growing interest in life-extension and the prevention of the degenerative diseases of aging. I will review some of this promising new research on how intermittent fasting and caloric reduction can powerfully prolong life and diminish diseases such as Alzheimer’s, heart disease, and cancer through its effects on immune function and inflammation. Most importantly we will discuss how you can apply this information to promote the health of you and your family.
As we age, all of us want to look and feel our best but not to the point of undergoing plastic surgery. Fortunately, there is a safe, cost-effective alternative. Cosmetic acupuncture uses ultra-thin needles barely inserted into the skin and is painless. Although the results are not as dramatic as with surgery, it can eliminate fine wrinkles and soften deeper ones, tone sagging cheeks and necks, reduce cellulite, firm, and even augment, breast size. The overall effect is to turn back the clock five to fifteen years.
The mechanism by which acupuncture works remains unknown. Quite likely it works through several different mechanisms. In terms of cosmetic acupuncture, it visibly increases blood flow to the dermal layer of the skin and stimulates the production of collagen, causing the underlying structural support to tone and tighten. Thus, best results are obtained in healthy people whose skin has retained its underlying vitality. For this reason I recommend a comprehensive approach to cosmetic acupuncture that includes attention to your overall health, nutrition, and lifestyle habits.
Your evaluation begins with an initial complimentary fifteen-minute appointment to assess your goals and suitability for treatment. If there is a good match between your expectations and the anticipated treatment results, a forty-five minute appointment will be scheduled to evaluate your health in detail, formulate a treatment plan, and make specific health and nutritional recommendations. A course of acupuncture treatments consists of ten sessions on a twice-weekly basis. For best results it is recommended that you include several sessions of neck and facial massage with our masseuse during which time you will learn facial exercise and self-massage techniques. After all, “Beauty is more than skin deep.” As an introductory offer the first five respondents will be eligible for a 50% discount.
Be well and enjoy the glorious Spring,
